2016 Indians Hall of Fame Inductees

The Cleveland Indians will induct Jim Thome, Albert Belle, Frank Robinson and Charlie Jamieson into the their Hall of Fame on July 30, 2016. This is doubly special to me personally, as Jim Thome is my all time favorite ballplayer.

Jim Thome played 13 seasons for the Indians, and his 337 homers and 1,008 walks are the most in club history. He was a three-time All-Star as a member of the Indians.

Albert Belle hit 50 homers and 52 doubles in 1995, and remains the only Major League player in history to accomplish the 50 / 50. He was a four-time All-Star and Silver Slugger Award winner with the Tribe.

Frank Robinson played the final three years of his career in Cleveland. He was the first African-American manager in baseball history, and served as Indians player-manager from 1975-1976.

Charlie Jamieson played the final 14 years of his career with the Indians, hitting .316 and scoring 942 runs over those seasons.

Carlos Baerga to Enter Indians Hall of Fame

It was announced yesterday that Carlos Baerga and John Hart will be inducted this summer into the Indians Hall of Fame.  Hart was the architect and Baerga was a piece of one of the greatest teams that has ever stepped onto the baseball field… in Cleveland or otherwise.  I know that I’m biased, but I’ve often said that World Series title or not, I believe the 1995 Cleveland Indians was the best team in the history of baseball.  Period.

If you’ve ever heard Carlos give an interview, you know that, “Cargo Bagerga lubs Cleland.”   And Cargo… I’m happy that you’ve made it to the HOF.  You’ve earned it.
