Two years ago today, this happened. For years Clevelanders had been dealing with things like The Drive. The Fumble. The Shot. The Decision. Then on that fateful Father’s Day evening, LeBron James and crew did the impossible. They brought a championship back to Cleveland. It still doesn’t seem real and even though we’ve not fared nearly as well against the Warriors the last two years, nothing will ever tarnish that night.
I got to share it with my wife, kids, neighbors and all of Cleveland. It was a special night that will never be undone.
If you know me at all you know I’m not only a huge Cleveland sports fan but I’m also a life long professional wrestling fan. Triple H (the real life COO of the WWE as well as an on-air performer) just tweeted this photo… and it’s perfect…
He had this to say: “An unprecedented comeback and a long overdue @NBA Championship… THAT is something to celebrate. Congrats @cavs!”
I could go on and on but this morning I don’t have to. The Cleveland Cavaliers did something last night that had never been done. They came back from a 3-1 deficit to win the first NBA title in team history. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it.
I got to share it with my wife, kids, neighbors and all of Cleveland. It was a special night. The city is still buzzing this morning.
Led by Kevin Love (27 points and 13 rebounds) the Cavs completed the four game sweep of the Atlanta Hawks and will move on to the Eastern Conference Finals where they’ll meet the winner of the Raptors and the Heat.
The Cavaliers are the only remaining unbeaten team in the playoffs.
The Cavs ended their three game losing streak last night by besting the Portland Trail Blazers 105-100 at Quicken Loan Arena. They were once again wearing their alternative black-sleeved jerseys. I thought these were the ones that LeBron hated no?
It’s not my thing, but judging from my social media timelines everyone loves the fact that Kevin Love is part of the ESPN Body issue. I’m about all things CLE and for at least today I’m showing the love… lots of it.
Kevin Love has unfinished business in Cleveland. He took a page out of LeBron James’ book and penned an open letter making his intentions known. If you want to read the full letter you can find it here. But to a Cleveland fan, this is all we needed to hear:
Its looking like the Cavaliers are close to making another couple of signings as well. #ALLinCLE!!!
The NBA Finals are over, but that doesn’t mean the Cavs and LeBron James are not in the news. LeBron is expected to once again work out a one-year contract with a player option for the 2016-17 season. Doing so would allow him to again hold the leverage next summer and sign a new deal after the league’s salary cap and maximum salaries rise due to the NBA’s massive new TV contract. He’s expected to wait until the Cavaliers resolve situations with Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, Brendan Haywood’s non-guaranteed contract and J.R. Smith before making his new deal official.
