NOTE: I’m not trying to reignite the Chief Wahoo debate with this post. I ran across this photo when reading a story from back in May about how a protester got busted stealing federal grant money. The photo itself is awesome regardless of your feelings of Wahoo.
If you’re a professional wrestling fan you know the significance (and awesomeness) of this particular photo. If you’re not familiar it’s an homage to former WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan.
Not sure who originally spotted it, but I ran across it when Twitter user @CLE_CLCFan tweeted it.
We all know the Cavs brought home a title… but did you know that our very own Cleveland Indians are in first place! Who’s up for another parade in November?!?!?
It’s Throwback Thursday here on That’s Cleveland Baby! The city is revolving around LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers these days, but let’s not forget about our beloved Indians! Remember this guy? Ol Chief Wahoo has taken a lot of flack in recent years and while he’s no longer on our uniforms the way he was he’ll live no in our memories.
As I post this, the Tribe is currently sitting in the cellar of the division (They’re shitty again…) but I’ve got hight hopes that they’ll turn it around and give us an exciting summer.
It’s been a long, cold winter here in Cleveland. I try really hard not to bitch about the weather cause let’s face it… we live in Cleveland. It’s GOING to be cold in the winter. This year seems to have been particularly tough. That said, I’m SUPER pumped today because baseball is back! The Indians hit the field today for their first Spring Training game. Can’t wait to get back to Progressive Field for some real Tribe baseball!
Are you planning on going to Opening Day in April?
I was scrolling through my Facebook feed the other day and ran across this gem. My friend was clearing out a box of old photos in a house he’d recently moved into and found this pic of Cleveland Municipal Stadium. The Indians called Municipal Stadium their home for some 60 years and the Browns for nearly 50 years. While it wasn’t necessarily the best place to WATCH a sporting event, I’ve got some of my first (and greatest) memories from that site on the shores of Lake Erie.
This particular photo had a date of 1980 on it and looks like its held up great. I’ve got to say that this is probably my personal favorite rendition of Chief Wahoo. Got a story of Municipal Stadium you’d like to share? We’d love to hear it!
