Throwback to the Horseshoe

Today’s post takes us back to the Horseshoe Casino (currently known as Jack Casino Cleveland). It is located in the former Higbee Building at Tower City Center in downtown Cleveland and has 100,000 sq ft of gaming space. It is open 24 hours a day and is completely smoke-free and has partnered with nearly a dozen downtown Cleveland restaurants.

Will We Make Our Way Back?

For today’s Throwback Thursday entry I ran across this in my drafts. ClevelandChick shared this during last year’s NBA Finals. The Cavs have made quite a few changes recently. Will they make their way back to the Finals this season?

Steak In The Heart Of Cleveland

The Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse in downtown Cleveland is located in the heart of the central business district, within walking distance of Public Square, The Horseshoe Casino, and most major downtown hotels. From their website:

We believe that great food starts with the quality of the ingredients, finished with the flair of a professional culinarian. Take a closer look at our menus, and you’ll find our menu doesn’t begin and end with a New York strip steak or a filet mignon. Our chefs are experts in preparing the best available aged steaks in a variety of classic and noveau styles, including Steak ala Oscar, Steak au Poivre, and Tournedos au Bleu. Of course, we like to name them in honor of the local sports legends.

Happy Birthday Horseshoe Casino Cleveland!

One year ago today, the Horseshoe Casino is downtown Cleveland opened its doors to the public.  It’s been a great year and by all indications business is good at The Shoe.   Congrats to everyone involved in bringing Cleveland another great landmark!

The High Limit Room at the Horseshoe

When the Horseshoe Casino came to downtown Cleveland the entire city was electric with excitement.  For weeks after it opened, the Horseshoe had lines out the door waiting to get in and still to this day I think its safe to say traffic is exceeding expectations.

I took this pic the first weekend the casino was open as I took a spin through the high limit room.  I’m thrilled to see that the Higbee building seems to be a perfect fit for the Shoe.

The casino was the subject of many debates for years prior to its arrival.  But regardless of if you voted for it or not, I think it’s safe to say that it’s added yet another jewel to the downtown area.

The Fed In Cleveland

It’s not often that I find myself walking the streets of downtown Cleveland by myself on a weekend evening, but that’s exactly the situation I found myself in recently.  I had attended the Winking Lizard World Tour Finisher’s Party and I was making my way over the Horseshoe Casino for some late night gambling when I walked by the Federal Reserve Bank.  Super cool!

Remember When Cleveland Didn’t Have A Casino

I took this picture WAY back when Cleveland didn’t have a casino.  It had been announced that the Horseshoe was coming and signs like this one started popping up all over Cleveland.  If you haven’t been there yet I’d strongly suggest you give it a shot.
