Aloft Cleveland All Lit Up!

I snapped this photo of Aloft Cleveland all lit up back in June of 2013 right after it opened at a Cleveland.com Tweetup. Aloft Cleveland Downtown is located in the heart of the business and entertainment district, near the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum, Quicken Loans Arena, and the Cleveland Convention Center.

Downtown Reflection

I got some flack about yesterday’s post because it wasn’t truly “Cleveland”. Yes… it was Akron. No, I’m not suggesting Cleveland and Akron are the same. That said, I wanted to get back to something more Cleveland-centric today so here it is. Talk about an amazing shot! I don’t know who snapped this pic but it captures the essence of downtown perfectly.

Between LeBron There Was Sherwin

We’ve all seen the now iconic image of LeBron James on the wall as you enter downtown Cleveland. But before he was put back up, Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams was prominently displayed there.

Signs Of The Times In Cleveland

If you’ve lived in Cleveland for any length of time, you know that a break in the weather brings not only thoughts of Spring Training but also the dreaded orange barrels. Construction is a necessary evil I try really hard not to bitch about it but when your daily commute essentially doubles overnight the bitterness sets in.

Signs Of The Times

As we said previously, there’s a slew of work going on in Cleveland prepping for the Rebublican National Convention but even if there weren’t the orange barrels would be out in full force. It’s that time of year!

Late Night Sunset In Cleveland

When you’re a Cleveland fan, a true Cleveland fan, sometimes the city will take your breath away. We’re lucky to live in a day and age when everyone has a cell phone and all of our cell phones have cameras. This allows us to capture those moments.

Instagram / Twitter user @seankisez managed to do just that when he snapped this shot: “Late night at the  #office. At least there is a #view. #downtown #cle #sunset”

Key Tower In The CLE

Key Tower is a skyscraper on Public Square in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It was designed by architect César Pelli and it is currently the tallest building in the state of Ohio.

Key Tower Cleveland

Some additional tidbits via WikiPedia:

Key Tower is the 22nd-tallest in the United States and the 122nd-tallest in the world. The building reaches 57 stories or 947 feet to the top of its spire, and it is visible from up to 20 miles away. The tower contains about 1.5 million square feet of office space.

Downtown Cleveland Lit Up

Ran across this beautiful picture of downtown Cleveland and simply had to share it. Not sure who snapped it, but the way it shows Progressive Field, Quicken Loans Arena and the rest of the skyline lit up is awesome.

The Rainbow Terminal Tower – Gay Games 9 In 2014

Ran across this photo a while back and I’m just now getting an opportunity to post it. Cleveland’s most (and only?) iconic building, the Terminal Tower was lit up with the rainbow colors earlier this year to promote Gay Games 9 in 2014.

There are some GREAT things going on these days in Cleveland. I for one am so proud of the town I call home.

The Terminal Tower In Teal

The Terminal Tower in Cleveland is certainly our most well known building. And you never know just what color it’s going to be on any given day.  Actually… that’s not true. If you look at this schedule and follow @TowerLightsCLE on Twitter you know EXACTLY what color it’s going to be!

Get Ready Cleveland, There’s A Lot Of Road Work Ahead

Getting into downtown Cleveland can be a chore sometimes.  Sadly, it just got a bit tougher.  On 10/3/2013 ramps from the Jennings Freeway and I-90 were closed and all that traffic was re-routed onto I-490 and I-77.  Innerbelt.org advises to “Opt for the Alternate!” which is a catchy way of saying “Get ready to sit in gridlock for 2 years…”

Road Work Ahead

Get used to these signs Cleveland… sadly, they’re going to be around for a long… long… time.

Through The Looking Glass – Tower City & Terminal Tower

This is one of the first That’s Cleveland Baby! pictures I ever took.  I was walking through Tower City one glorious spring morning and looked up through the glass ceiling and saw the Terminal Tower staring me right in the face.  I have to say that no matter how many times I see this view it really does take my breath away.

I took this one on my iPhone proving once again you don’t need to be a pro photographer to capture something beautiful.

Downtown At Dusk – Happy Birthday Cleveland

I ran across this amazing shot on Instagram the other day when scrolling through my timeline.  It was posted by the incredibly talented Mike Waterhouse.  And while Instagram can make even the most novice picture taker look like a pro, Mike is indeed just that.  Dude is AMAZING when he picks up a camera.  I found the original, non-Instagrammed image and that’s what you see below.  You can follow Mike on Instagram, on Twitter at @MikeWaterhouse or on his blog at http://nakedbagel.com/

If you’re interested, here’s the Instagram photo that I first saw.

Mike took this photo of the downtown skyline on Cleveland’s 217th birthday on July 22nd, 2013.  I’m a few days late, but I’d like to wish the town I love a very happy birthday.
