Went to my office the other day for the first time in over 6 months. Tower City was a ghost town.
Hope you’re hanging in through this crazy 2020 Cleveland. Stay safe and healthy.

Today’s post takes us back to the Horseshoe Casino (currently known as Jack Casino Cleveland). It is located in the former Higbee Building at Tower City Center in downtown Cleveland and has 100,000 sq ft of gaming space. It is open 24 hours a day and is completely smoke-free and has partnered with nearly a dozen downtown Cleveland restaurants.

If there’s one landmark that’s quintessential Cleveland it’s the Terminal Tower. We don’t have the largest or tallest skyline in the country but when you look up and see this beauty in the sky you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you’re “home”.

This simply amazing shot of downtown Cleveland was posted to Facebook by a friend of mine Craig Kandiko.

The “Walkway to Gateway,” which is a completely enclosed and air-conditioned skyway from Tower City Center to Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field, allows RTA passengers, as well as those using the Tower City parking facilities, to walk to the arena or ballpark without having to go outside.

I got some flack about yesterday’s post because it wasn’t truly “Cleveland”. Yes… it was Akron. No, I’m not suggesting Cleveland and Akron are the same. That said, I wanted to get back to something more Cleveland-centric today so here it is. Talk about an amazing shot! I don’t know who snapped this pic but it captures the essence of downtown perfectly.
If this is your photo please let me know so I can give you credit! Do you have a Cleveland pic you’d like to share? Upload it here!

We’ve all seen the now iconic image of LeBron James on the wall as you enter downtown Cleveland. But before he was put back up, Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams was prominently displayed there.

I figured this was a good pic to post on Throwback Thursday. It was taken on Groundhog’s Day this year. *shiver*
I believe my exact quote was, “Dear Punxsutawney Phil. F@*K You!!!” Or something along those lines…

The Terminal Tower in Cleveland is certainly our most well known building. And you never know just what color it’s going to be on any given day. Actually… that’s not true. If you look at this schedule and follow @TowerLightsCLE on Twitter you know EXACTLY what color it’s going to be!
What’s YOUR favorite color scheme for the Terminal Tower?

We’re not even to Thanksgiving yet, but it’s been looking a lot like Christmas for a few weeks now in Tower City.
There’s just something special about seeing the holiday decorations in Tower City.
It’s the time of year Cleveland… Are you ready?!?
Hope you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday this week folks!

This is one of the first That’s Cleveland Baby! pictures I ever took. I was walking through Tower City one glorious spring morning and looked up through the glass ceiling and saw the Terminal Tower staring me right in the face. I have to say that no matter how many times I see this view it really does take my breath away.
I took this one on my iPhone proving once again you don’t need to be a pro photographer to capture something beautiful.

I ran across this amazing shot on Instagram the other day when scrolling through my timeline. It was posted by the incredibly talented Mike Waterhouse. And while Instagram can make even the most novice picture taker look like a pro, Mike is indeed just that. Dude is AMAZING when he picks up a camera. I found the original, non-Instagrammed image and that’s what you see below. You can follow Mike on Instagram, on Twitter at @MikeWaterhouse or on his blog at http://nakedbagel.com/
If you’re interested, here’s the Instagram photo that I first saw.
Mike took this photo of the downtown skyline on Cleveland’s 217th birthday on July 22nd, 2013. I’m a few days late, but I’d like to wish the town I love a very happy birthday.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Cleveland is currently being used to film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Roads have been closed, social media has been hopping with updates and the town has been buzzing with celebrity sightings. Filming moved inside yesterday into Tower City. As I rode the escalator up from the parking garage, I was greeted with this sight.
And while I didn’t get a photo of Scarlett Johansson & Chris Evans kissing, I did manage to snap a couple of pics and videos of the two stars filming a scene or two. The “first unit” was filming all day in Tower City both in the main area with the fountains as well as “downstairs” where the RTA comes into the building. Looks like Cleveland will be well represented in the film.

A few years ago, when you drove into downtown and would be greeted with a Cleveland icon… LeBron James. Back in those days LeBron’s banner with his arms outstretched had simply one word on it… “Witness“. These days as you make your way downtown you’re still greeted with an icon but it’s no longer Mr. James. These days the icon is Cleveland herself.
The “Witness” banner has been replaced with one sponsored by home town Sherwin-Williams that has a picture of Cleveland with seven words: “Our Home Since 1866. Our Pride Forever”

March Madness is starting early here in Cleveland this year. The Mid-American Conference (the MAC) is holding its Men’s and Women’s Conference Tournaments this week in downtown Cleveland at the Quicken Loans Arena. You can check out the entire schedule of events on the MAC’s website, which culminates with the Women’s Championship Game on Saturday (3/16) at 1:00 PM followed by the Men’s Championship Game 6:30 PM. (Tickets are available here)
In addition to the games themselves, the MAC Fan Fest has taken over Tower City. During the Fan Fest, fans can “Get your picture taken with the mascots, cheerleaders and band members from your favorite MAC team. Enjoy team autograph signings, inflatables, free throw contests, dunk contests, cornhole, tattoo booths and much more.” (Tickets are available here)
One more reason I love this town.
