Clevelanders know this to be true…
That’s Cleveland Baby
Memes are hilarious when they’re true. I don’t always experience all four seasons in a week… But when I do I am in CLEVELAND!
That’s most certainly Cleveland baby!
I’m not quite sure WHY this is news. After all, we live in northeast Ohio and it’s March. If you’ve lived here for more than six months this shouldn’t come as a shock. It’s winter. It snows.
As they say, if you don’t like the weather in Cleveland, just wait two days and it’ll be totally different.

You’re familiar with the movie A Christmas Story. Right? Well, we embrace that movie in CLE like no other. Hell, a few years ago a guy bought the house where the movie was filmed and turned it into a museum.

A Christmas Story is a 1983 film based on the Jean Shepherd book In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash. The film has since become a holiday classic that is celebrated across the United States and especially in Cleveland. The infamous Christmas Story House where the movie was filmed is here and we have more leg lamps per capita than any other city in the US.
Case in point…

In Cleveland, the winters are cruel. The river burns, and the lake will eat you. Presenting… the Lake Erie Monster!

Got this as an email forward and thought it was share worthy.
And God created the Midwest…
On the sixth day, God turned to Archangel Gabriel and said, “Today I am going to create an area of land called The Midwest. It will be a land of outstanding natural beauty. It shall have tall hills and rolling plains full of game and eagles, beautiful sparkling lakes bountiful with bass and streams full of trout, forests full of deer and turkeys, valleys with fertile soil with an abundance nutrients to grow things, and rivers teaming with fish.”
God continued, “I shall make the land rich in resources so as to make the inhabitants prosper, I shall call these inhabitants Midwesterners, and they shall be known as the most friendly people on the earth.”
“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “don’t you think you are being too generous to these Midwesterners??”
“Not really,” replied God.. “Just wait and see the winters I am going to give them!”

I figured this was a good pic to post on Throwback Thursday. It was taken on Groundhog’s Day this year. *shiver*
I believe my exact quote was, “Dear Punxsutawney Phil. F@*K You!!!” Or something along those lines…

An arial picture of Cleveland’s Public Square lit up for the holiday season.

I can’t for the life of me remember where I found this photo so I can’t give credit for it, but I wanted to share it because it’s simply beautiful. It captures Cleveland in the fall / winter (notice the trees with no leaves in the foreground) at that perfect time of dusk.
If you know who’s photo this is (or it’s yours) please let me know so I can give proper credit!

The weather in Cleveland today is beautiful… it’s in the mid 50’s (56 on my phone right now) and the sun is shining. Sadly, it doesn’t seem as if it’s going to last. I just got an alert from the Weather Channel that’s telling me we’re under a Winter Storm Watch.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a winter storm watch…
4 to 6 inches of snow along with a glaze of ice. 15 to 25 MPH.
Sadly as I’ve lived here for the better part of 30 years, this comes as no surprise to me.
Bundle up folks…

Anyone that knows me even a little bit knows I’m a bit of a Star Wars nerd. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here on the blog but I ran across this image and I simply had to share it. We’re going through our second arctic blast here in the last couple of weeks. Would it shock ANYONE to see an AT-AT marching through Cleveland at this point?
Apologies to those readers who aren’t Star Wars fans cause if you aren’t you’ll have absolutely no idea what this image is.
That’s Hoth… er… Cleveland Baby!
Wintertime in Cleveland can be downright dreary. I’ve lived here for a long time so I try REALLY hard not to be the person complaining about the weather in Northeast Ohio. After all… it’s CLEVELAND. What did we expect? This winter hasn’t even been that terrible with the exception of a couple of nasty snowstorms. That said, I’m still super excited for Spring to hit this year. It’s just been so gray for so long.
Luckily on my way to work the other day I saw a light at the end of the tunnel… Proof positive that here in Cleveland we do indeed have more that just 50 shades of gray.
Spring is coming! Opening Day for the Indians is just around the corner and there WILL be a day when we see the sun shine again. And I for one simply cannot wait.

If there is one building that’s iconic to Cleveland, it’s the Terminal Tower. One of the thing that I LOVE about the Tower is when it’s lit up in the Cleveland night. Throughout the year how it’s lit changes based on the time of year, activities around town, etc. This particular image was snapped during the holidays this past year when the Tower was decked out in traditional Christmas colors. Love it!
What other color schemes have you seen on the Tower?

As previously stated, the weather in Cleveland can be a bit um… sporadic at best. Today is one of those days when we’re on the “good lord it’s crappy out” side of the spectrum. The morning drive was super difficult as we got hit with some lake effect snow and wind which produced this nice little white out.
This pic was snapped (while essentially sitting still) on I-480 West during morning rush hour. Man was THAT a fun commute. I spose that’s what we get for living in Cleveland in February!

It’s often been said that if you don’t like the weather in Cleveland, all you have to do is wait a little while. This past week we had spring like sun, mist, rain, fog, snow and ice… all in a 24 hour period.
This wouldn’t be nearly as funny if it wasn’t so true!
