The Browns announced earlier today that they have waived quarterback Johnny Manziel.
At least they got the memo that the free agency period has started and they can make moves. All jokes aside, I think it’s fair to say that Manziel is troubled. I wish him nothing but the best in the future.

The Browns took the field yesterday to a half full FirstEnergy Stadium (I was there) with Johnny Manziel at the helm. They looked like a football team. They ran the ball, threw the ball and played defense worthy of the Dawg Pound. At least for one day this season, it was great to be a Browns fan.

Yesterday, the Browns named Johnny Manziel as the starting quarterback for remainder of season. Thusfar, he has 933 yards passing, five TDs, two interceptions and an 88.4 rating.
In this Browns fan’s opinion, this is a very good move. We’ve got to see just what we’ve got in ol Johnny Football.

Josh McCown is NOT the reason the Cleveland Browns have seven losses. He may be the reason they have two wins. McCown is not at 100% and he’s NOT going to be the long term solution but Manziel may be. But we’ll never know if we don’t watch him play.
We need to understand what sort of asset (or liability) we have in Manziel. And the only way we can find out, is to let him play.

Browns quarterback Josh McCown led the Browns back from an early 14-3 deficit on Sunday to give Cleveland a 33-30 win in overtime.

ESPN reported that the NFL has suspended Josh Gordon for yet again violating the league’s substance abuse policy. This comes on the heels of the announcement that Brown’s quarterback Johnny Manziel has entered rehab.
Sadly, it appears that the Browns are… The Browns.

Johnny Maniel is in Cleveland… at least for the time being. His NFL rookie season fizzled and his off the field antics have continued. Is his time in Cleveland short lived?

Today’s photo comes from the front page of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. In case you’ve been living under a rock, the NFL Draft was last night (the first round that is) and the Browns were VERY busy. They started the night owning the #4 pick which they promptly traded to Buffalo for the #9 pick a two picks in next year’s draft. They then traded up to #8 and selected Justin Gilbert. And they were just getting started.
Johnny Manziel (known as Johnny Football) was touted by some experts as the #1 pick in the draft. He slid all the way to #22 when the Browns (after some more wheeling and dealing) snagged him. This AM’s Plain Dealer told an interesting story. Manziel, who’d slid WAY down below where many thought he would be was the headliner and Gilbert (the best corner in the draft) was a mere afterthought.

The draft continues through the weekend but I can’t imagine it will be quite as interesting or headline grabbing. Love him or hate him he’ll be a Brown this fall. And then it’s time to see if “Johnny Football” can live up to his name.
