Ladies and gentlemen… your Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland Cavaliers!

Last night, the Cavs won the Eastern Conferece Championship in convincing fashion when they swept the Hawks 4-0 with a 118-88 victory. Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and GM David Griffin hoisted the Eastern Conference Championship trophy at the Q in front of a sold out croud.

The Cavs have off until June 4th when the NBA Finals will begin against either the Golden State Warriors or the Houston Rockets.

When I started That’s Cleveland Baby I had no intent of turing this into a sports-centric blog. That said, Cleveland revolves around its sports teams so when they’re in the news I feel compelled to cover it.
After the worst start in his career, LeBron James recorded a triple-double with 37 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists lifting the Cavs to a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals over the Atlanta Hawks.

The Cavaliers are back in action tonight at 8:30 at the Q. Let’s go Cavs!!!

As part of the annual Blossom Time festival, Chagrin Falls hosts a hot air balloon night as part of their festivities. We went this year on Sunday night which has become sort of a family tradition. The winds weren’t being cooperative so the balloons didn’t launch, but they inflated them so the fans could see them and take pictures.

Talk about a super cool event to kick off the summer season!

I’m not a huge fan of email forwards, but I got this one over the weekend and had to pass it along. I’m sure you’re familar with Jeff Foxworthy’s “You Might Be A Redneck If” schitick. Here’s a Cleveland version…

NOTE: I’m not QUITE sure if this can actually be attributed to Foxworthy. The email foward that I received had Slyman’s spelled “Sliman’s” which calls things into question. That said, it’s a pretty accurate list.

There’s nothing quite like heading down to Progressive Field and taking in a day game under the beautiful Cleveland sky.

Let’s go Tribe!

The Cavs took game 2 in the East Conference Finals last night without Kyrie Irving. The more banged up the Cavs are, the better they play. LeBron James was 1 rebound shy of a triple double and Tristan Thompson had seven points and 16 boards.

The Cavs are back home tomorrow for Game #3, 8:30 at The Q. Let’s Go Cavs!!!

Judge John O’Donnell is expected to deliver the verdict in the Cleveland Police Officer Michael Brelo case today. If you’re not familar with the case here’s some details via WKYC:
Brelo faces two counts of voluntary manslaughter. He was involved in the 22-minute police pursuit that began outside the Justice Center in Cleveland late Nov. 29, 2012, and ended in the parking lot of Heritage Middle School in East Cleveland.
Brelo fired 49 shots, the most of any officer. He jumped on the hood of the Malibu and fired the last 15 shots after other officers had stopped shooting.”

Regardless of the outcome, be safe Cleveland.

In case you haven’t noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven’t, the Indians have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar. (Yes, I know they’ve been the road, but any chance to quote Harry Doyle and I’ll take it…) The Indians beat the White Sox last night and finished their road trip winning the final 3 in a row.

The Indians are back in action tonight against the Cincinnati Reds for 3 games and follow that up with 3 against the Texas Rangers before going back on the road. Let’s Go Tribe!

The Cavaliers took a 1-0 lead over the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Finals last night when midseason pickup J.R. Smith dumped in 28 points on a Cavs playoff record eight three-pointers! With injuries continuing to plague the Cavs we’re going to need continued contribution from the likes of Smith and Dellavedova.

The Cavs and Hawks go at it in Game #2 in Atlanta on Friday May 22nd @ 8:30 PM. Let’s Go Cavs!!!

There’s nothing quite like the blue Cleveland sky on a sunny afternoon. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the shores of Lake Erie is a landmark in Cleveland that people travel to from around the world.
Instagram user @winelibrarian snapped this shot and added, “View from the paddle boat today. #rockhall #thisiscle #nofilter”

Do you have a shot you’d like added? Upload it and make sure to give us a caption so we can give you credit!

34 years ago today on May 15, 1981, Cleveland Indian Len Barker threw a perfect game at Cleveland Stadium. Baseball seating capacity that season was 76,685. Official paid attendance was 7,290. Yes somehow you can find about 400,000 Clevelanders that “were there”. Funny how that works isn’t it? 🙂

Regardless of the attendance, it’s an amazing accomplishment. Congrats Len!

In the second half of last night’s Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Bulls Cleveland was treated to the Matthew Dellavedova show. The former Austrailian rugby player took control of a game that saw Kyrie Irving leave in the 2nd quarter. Dellavedova a team-high 19 points as the Cavs won the series 4-2.

The Cavaliers now await the winner of the Atlanta Hawks & Washington Wizards.

It’s Throwback Thursday here on That’s Cleveland Baby! The city is revolving around LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers these days, but let’s not forget about our beloved Indians! Remember this guy? Ol Chief Wahoo has taken a lot of flack in recent years and while he’s no longer on our uniforms the way he was he’ll live no in our memories.

As I post this, the Tribe is currently sitting in the cellar of the division (They’re shitty again…) but I’ve got hight hopes that they’ll turn it around and give us an exciting summer.

Severance Hall is a concert hall located in the University Circle neighborhood near Cleveland. It has been the home of the Cleveland Orchestra since its opening on February 5, 1931.

Interesting tip via Wikipedia:
Severance Hall was featured in the 1997 Harrison Ford film Air Force One. The scene during the opening credits shows a night-time military raid on the presidential palace of the leader of Kazakhstan.

Ran across this beautiful picture of downtown Cleveland and simply had to share it. Not sure who snapped it, but the way it shows Progressive Field, Quicken Loans Arena and the rest of the skyline lit up is awesome.

If this is your photo or you know who took it please let me know so I can give proper credit!
